The typical cam is injection molded plastic and fits into the bottom door insert. The internal cavity has an integral bevel, which works in conjunction with a pintle, allowing the door to come to rest at a predetermined spot. A candle cam has an elongated body with an internal spring, providing the closing force, and has a metal threaded stud at the bottom that attaches to the hinge or a cavity to accept a pintle.
