Door Latches
Latches are of the following types, Concealed, Slide, and Throw.
Concealed Latch and Knob Sets
Knob and cover fit in a hole punched in the each face of the door and engage an individual latch pin or mechanism inside the door cavity. Turning the knob extends or retracts the pin. ADA compliant knobs have lever handles. Covers are slotted to allow emergency access with a screwdriver or similar tool. A variation is a rectangular style that uses a slide action to the latch pin.
Throw Latches
Simple and straight forward. ADA compliant. These latches are less secure than the other two types, but they allow fast emergency access.
